Variety is reporting that two of the main leads for the film version of ONE FOR THE MONEY have been cast. OFTM is the first book in a series by Janet Evanovich.
Jason O’Mara (U.S. version of LIFE ON MARS, RESIDENT EVIL:EXTINCTION) will play Joe Morelli, a vice cop on the run from a murder charge. Morelli is an old sweetheart of Stephanie (Katherine Heigl)and is responsible for deflowering her. 
According to the article. Daniel Sunjata (Franco Rivera of RESCUE ME) has been cast as “a disciplined veteran bounty hunter.” Now unless they are changing things, that would have to be the enigmatic Ranger. Throughout the novels, Ranger provides guidance and ends up being a love interest for Stephanie. Not sure who she ends up with because I stopped with book number seven.
Julie Ann Robinson (WEEDS, GRAYS’S ANATOMY) is directing, with a screenplay by Liz Brixius. Liz is one of the creative folk behind Showtime’s NURSE JACKIE.
I read all the books so consider this the opinion on a Stephanie Plum addict! Lol Sunjata is hands down the perfect choice. Sexy. Uber-masculine. And a great great talent. This will be his first big role in a film so we'll see how he does, but I'm betting it's a slam dunk for him as Ranger.

Some of us have been waiting YEARS for this movie to come out and THIS is who they choose for Morelli? Unless they can really pull a rabbit out of a hat I'm already going to the dark side w/ Ranger…
I have read all the Stephanie Plum books. Love….love…love them. Not too happy with the Ranger pick..Morelli I think is a good choice. Can't wait anyway to see the movie.
I personally am not thrilled to find out Katherine Heigel is Stephanie. Totally agree with Ranger's casting. Not sure about Morelli.
I think both or going to be good in their parts. Great casting there!!!!! I am having trouble picturing KH as Stephanie. I can't wait for this to come out!!!!
If you have read this series these two DO NOT fit the character bill. ALL WRONG, TRY AGAIN!!!!! I won't be rushing to see it. Huge fan of the series, I think this will ruin the books!
I think Lauren Graham would have been a good choice for Stephanie. Sunjata will be great! Morelli is supposed to be a mob-type Italian cop – O'Mara?
They completely screwed up the casting on this book! Yes, I know SP is 27 BUT… we always saw her as Sandra Bullock. We also were thinking Ranger was more of the Benjamin Bratt type and Morrelli as Matthew McConaughey ( with Dark Hair). If they only made this movie 10 years ago … sigh.
Well both men will have to beef up some but it should work out. O'Mara would do well as Jack from Robin Carr's Virgin River series
I read all the books and have been hoping for years there would be movies. Hate the casting, they didn't do their research. Stephanie: Sherri Applebee, Ranger: Franky G, Morelli: he's a tough one, not Jason O'Mara, easy on the eyes: Alex O'Laughlin as Morelli. What a let down, will wait for the dvd.
not sure at all by the casting. just today I thought joe manganiello would have been better as morelli.
I'm ok with Heigle .. and even Sunjata .. but Morelli is all wrong .. so not the guy we saw in that role.. not Italian enough .. Not liking this at all.. Still can't wait to see the movie .. but still thats a big let down.
Horrible casting for Morelli. Morelli is supposed to be drop dead gorgeous. O'Mara is dark or handsome.

Sandra Bullock is Stephanie and has been who I pictured since book one and that has not changed after 16 books. The Rock is Ranger and also who I always pictured. I think Betty White would be a great Grandam Mazur. Joe I am not so sure about but he has to be a smokin hot italian!!!
Katherine Heigel is the worst choice for Stephanie and if she is truly the choice I will not be seeing the movie!!

I did hear that Betty White would be playing Grandma, and that will probably be ok…
I just hope it all works out they way they hope with this casting…

Bad choice for Morelli. I see him as much sexier than Jason O'Mara!
Heigl can pull off Stephanie, if this had been made 5 to 10 years ago, I'd say Sandra or Lauren Graham would have made better choices.
Ranger is supposed to be Cuban, that being said, Sunjata looks right, he just needs to bulk up. The Rock, while sexy, doesn't look smart enough, maybe I'm biased because I've seen him in too many goofy roles lately, but there you have it.
Morelli.. what were they thinking? he's supposed to be Italian… mediterranean skin, BROWN smoldering eyes… O'Mara's sexy, but definitely NOT Morelli.
Joe Manganiello would be a good choice, Dermot Mulroney would too, though he's maybe too old… but did you see him in the Wedding Date… wowsa!

I totally agree with Sunjata as Ranger…great pick…but O'Mara for Morelli…ugggg…I mean maybe the picture is just bad but I'm with Joe being played by Joe Manganiello…he has to be ITALIANO!!…hello!…this guy does not whisper Morelli…and Morelli deserves a actor that SCREAMS his name!…total let down in the Morelli department, but Katherine might work…and that's a strong might…Bullock was always a good choice but hey Stephanie is younger I was thinking of a young Bullock type like Anne Hathaway or someone that can do Physical Comedy…not just word comedy…all in all I'll go see the movie, if for nothing else to support Janet E. love her and I just want to see actors that give credit to her great characters in the book…
Not sure about Heigl as Stephanie. For me she is starting to become the same in each of her films.
I think Sunjata will be perfect as Ranger – will need to bulk a bit though.

I totally the casting is wrong but did see a pic of Katherin Heigal as plum and she's a brunette. Doesn't look too bad. Ranger has to be Dwayne Johnson (Rock), Morelli I pictured more of a Jimmy Smitts type and Stephanie Plum as Sandra Bullock.
This is horrible casting, especially Jason O'Mara for Morelli! Not even close … don't even want to see the movie now. I'll just stick to reading the books.
Amanda Peet would be great for Stephanie Plum.Heigle will be ok but not the best choice. What in the world are they thinking choosing Jason O'Mara.. NOT EVEN CLOSE !
I've read all the Evanovich Stephanie Plum books. O'Mara is not a good choice for Joe Morelli….actually very disappointing. The Ranger pick is okay….he'll do but not what I pictured Ranger to look like.
