A theatrical release date has been announced for Rian Johnson’s The Brothers Bloom. A note on the front (and only) page of The Brothers Bloom website, states that they have” completed editing, and will be released on October 24th, 2008.

“The Brothers Bloom (Mark Ruffalo, Oscar winner Adrien Brody) are the best con men in the world, swindling millionaires with complex scenarios of lust and intrigue. Now they’ve decided to take on one last job – showing a beautiful and eccentric heiress (Oscar winner Rachel Weisz) the time of her life with a romantic adventure that takes them around the world.”

The film was inspired by The Big Con ( the book that was also the inspiration for The Sting) and also stars Oscar winner Maximilian Schell (Judgement at Nuremberg, The Black Hole), Oscar nominee Rinko Kikuchi (Babel) and Robbie Coltrane (The Harry Potter films, U.K. version of Cracker).

This will be Johnson’s second film. His first, Brick, won awards at various festivals including Sundance.
