Ridley Scott: New project sequel to BLADE RUNNER?

Last week, director Ridley Scott shared words with The Wall Street Journal about his next project: His return to the world of BLADE RUNNER. Some would argue he never really left since, over the years, he has put together a director’s cut and then worked with Warner Bros to deliver a massive box set that included newly shot scenes.

But this time around, he is not playing around with the already shot film, he is making a new one.

According to the article, it will not feature the characters of BR (Scott says the new “Blade Runner” project is moving ahead “not with the past cast, of course.” No Deckard? “No, not really,” he says.) but will take place in the same world as the original film. Previously, it was announced there would be another BLADE RUNNER film, but it was not clear if it would be a prequel or sequel. In this article, Scott says it it “liable to be a sequel.

I honestly don’t know just what that means. Liable to be? Of course his next film is kind of/sort of a prequel to ALIEN, but not really. It reportedly takes place in the same universe, but apparently happens prior to ALIEN. So if nothing else, we know that Mr. Scott does not always feel the need to share things prior to the actual release of a film.

Scott is currently working to pick a writer to collaborate with. At this time, he is interviewing writers.
