Word has come out, via Variety, that director John Singleton is no longer directing the film version of The A-Team.

According to the article, Fox Studios decision to move the film back to 2010 played a part in the director’s departure.

The original plan was to have it ready for the 2009 summer. That now seems like a stretch, since no actors have officially been signed. Eight months does not seem like enough time to roll through filming and post-production on a film of this size.

I am bummed by this. Singleton is a talented director and would, imo, have brought something different to the project, making it fresh and fun.

Let us hope they don’t sign somebody like Brett Ratner to make just another action flick.
