Film Review: INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS

Written and Directed by Joel and Ethan Coen Starring: Oscar Issac, Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Adam Driver The Coen Brothers, for my money, have the strongest writing and directorial credits in the history of U.S. movies. Yes, there have been a few misses: BURN AFTER READING, THE LADYKILLERS and one or two more. But films like TRUE GRIT, NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, A SERIOUS MAN, FARGO, BLOOD SIMPLE and OH BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU far outnumber their few missteps. Blu-ray Review: BLOOD SIMPLE

Fox Home Entertainment Release date: Aug 30th, 2011 MSRP: $19.99 Director: Ethan and Joel Coen Stars: John Getz, Dan Hedaya, Frances McDormand, M Emmett Walsh Once upon a time, there was two brothers, Joel and Ethan Coen. Joel & Ethan(hereafter refered to as The Coen Brothers) had a desire to make films.Films that would be smart, look good and kick ass. Blu-ray Review: THE BIG LEBOWSKI

Universal Studios Home Entertainment Release date: Aug 16, 2011 MSRP: $29.98 Director: Joel and Ethan Coen Stars: Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Julianne Moore, Steve Buscemi, Once upon a time, THE BIG LEBOWSKI was considered one of the  Coen Bros weaker films. But as time as gone on, it has gone from a cult classic to a film that is generally respected and considered a delightfully quirky character piece. As is generally the case, Joel and Ethan put together a very strong cast of actors and  gave them a rich script full of colorful characters to inhabit. Watching the performances, you get the impression that Bridges and company had a lot of...

I just read the book this fall and loved it and couldn’t resist renting the movie despite what I’d heard about it. I enjoyed it quite a bit. And of course I also couldn’t resist the remake.PLOT: Following the murder of her father by hired hand, Tom Chaney, 14-year-old bible quoting farmgirl, Mattie Ross (Steinfeld) sets out to bring his murderer to justice.
