trailer for HAWAII FIVE-0 remake

I don’t have a whole lot of excitement for the new HAWAII FIVE-0 series, but the new trailer has my caught my eye. CBS has released a new four minute trailer. In it, Scott Cann and Alex O’Loughlin seem to have some decent chemisty and there is also Grace Park in a bathing suit…which is always nice. HAWAII FIVE-0 is a contemporary take on the classic series about a new elite federalized task force whose mission is to wipe out the crime that washes up on the Islands’ sun-drenched beaches. Detective Steve McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin), a decorated Naval officer turned cop, returns to Oahu to investigate his father’s...

DVD Review: HAWAII FIVE-O: The 7th Season

Paramount Home Entertainment Release date: October 20th, 2009 MSPR: $49.99 In reviews of previous season of this show it’s been made clear that the show still holds up, the islands of Hawaii add to the wonderful look of the show and that the camaraderie really seems to work. This is all still true in season seven. But having watched 7 of the 12 seasons now Ihave really noticed something else as well. The story lines seem to be ahead of their time. Corruption, international incidents, thrill killers, elaborate robberies, the cases are not simple murder and search for the killer sludge permeating so many shows of the time. The cops are...

DVD Review: HAWAII FIVE-0 – Sixth Season

CBS/Paramount Home Entertainment Release date: April 21, 2009 MSRP: $49.99 Stars: Jack Lord, James MacArthur, Kam Fong, Herman Wedemeyer, Harry Endo Once again I have truly enjoyed another season of this great show, it holds up so well as far as storytelling and plots go that it makes a lot of newer shows look silly. The show uses actual forensics and utilizes computer technology probably totally up to date for its time (1973). The realism of the police work is what give this show it’s edge. Season six brings some very entertaining episodes in as well. There is a high entertaining episode (One Big Happy Family) with Slim Pickins as the head...

DVD Review: HAWAII FIVE-O: The Fifth Season

HAWAII FIVE-O: The Fifth Season CBS/Paramount Home Entertainment Release date: November 18th MSRP: $49.99 Stars: Jack Lord, James MacArthur, Al Harrington, Kam Fong, Robert Drivas The Fifth season of Five-0 brings us the first of the cast changes, not unusual for a long running show. Though being in Hawaii did limit some of the actors to chose from for the minor roles. Gone is Zulu as Kono Kalakaua and enter Al Harrington as Detective. Ben Kokua. Harrington had been on the show before, in fact he played two different bad guys in season four. Also getting a more prominent role is Herman Wedemeyer as Duke, a beat cop who sometimes works...

Hawaii Five 0 Season 4

Season four of this show, shown originally in fall of 1971-spring of 1972, is another masterpiece. The writing is top notch and you can see that the writers understood the need to mix things up. We have episodes with international intrigue like the two part The 90 Second War, cases with simple theft turned sour like as in the episode with Vic Morrow and John Ritter called Two Doves and Mr. Morrow. There is a wonderful episode with Buddy Epson as the leader of a scam to use stolen travelers checks. Hume Cronyn is back as the villain with a million faces in Odd Man In. Such issues as serial killing and blackmail are common as are...
