MARCH OF CRIME by Jess Lourey

Midnight Ink September 8, 2017   Mira James has become the Jessica Fletcher of Battle Lake. She has found a corpse every month since she moved to the small northern Minnesota town in May. That makes 10 dead bodies, if you’re playing along at home. She realizes that this is weird and that it hasn’t made her any friends with the local law enforcement. As you can guess, Mira stumbles upon another deceased resident in MARCH OF CRIME by Jess Lourey.  This time she literally bumps into it at the local café. One of the residents of the Battle Lake Senior Sunset has taken up a new hobby of creating life-size dolls. Someone has hidden a dead body...

Salem’s Cipher by Jess Lourey

Midnight Ink September 2016 Jess Lourey’s latest novel, SALEM’S CIPHER, has something to draw in most every reader: mind-bending ciphers that must to be solved, strong protagonists, and truly evil antagonists. I loved this book and I think everyone else will enjoy it just as much as I did, too.  For centuries, the Hermitage Foundation has been working in political backrooms and business boardrooms to take over the world. The Foundation currently exists as a lobbying firm that has their hands in the pockets of very powerful American politicians, and it views women as the greatest threat to its power. The Underground, another centuries old...

February Fever by Jess Lourey

Midnight Ink February 2015   Mira James has had an unbelievable year. She moved from the big city of Minneapolis to small town Battle Lake in outstate Minnesota last May. Since then she has discovered dead bodies every month. Every. Month. Jess Lourey’s latest Murder by Month book staring Mira, FEBRUARY FEVER, takes place in, well, February. That makes at least 9 dead bodies that Mira has stumbled upon since May. She realizes that this is getting a little strange and cringes when she has to flip the calendar to a new month. A new month means the potential for finding a new stiff. Mira developed a serious crush on local eye-candy Johnny...

Noir at the Bar Minneapolis

Editor’s note: The term Noir at the Bar was actually coined by noted crime fiction blogger Peter Rozovsky. While Jedidah Ayres has worked hard to promote it, we wish to give credit where credit is due. Minneapolis bar Merlin’s Rest was home to a slightly different show last night than the neighborhood British pub usually is privy to. While the regular customer will come in for a pint of Guinness or a plate of Scotch eggs, what they got last night was a group of published and award winning mystery writers reading their short stories to a packed room of fans. Noir at the Bar is a term coined by St. Louis based author Jedidiah Ayres....

Jess Lourey Signing at Once Upon a Crime Oct18

Jess Lourey Signing at Once Upon a Crime

Tonight Jess Lourey played hostess at Minneapolis’s Raven Award winning bookstore Once Upon A Crime. The party she hosted was to promote the latest installment of her fan-favorite Murder By Month series, DECEMBER DREAD. Arriving just after the event starting time of 7:00, we were very pleased to see the little shop packed with fans. Happy readers waited patiently for Lourey to sign their copies of DREAD, as well as her new self-published young adult book THE TROLLHOUSE TRILLOGY. Lourey’s signings always seem to have a theme that matches up with the theme of the Murder By Month book being promoted and this one was no different. For...
