On Monday, March 29th, SAVING GRACE begins it’s fourth and final season.SAVING GRACE follows Hunter’s Grace Hanadarko as she investigates brutal crimes while also trying to navigate her increasingly unusual life. Grace lives passionately, but her hard and fast lifestyle is often questioned by her unconventional last-chance angel, Earl (Leon Rippy Deadwood), whose interaction and occasional interference in her life is, according to him, all part of God’s master plan.In the final season, Grace is forced to examine the possibility that her life has a divine purpose. TNT orders new crime pilot that features an Elvis ...

Last spring, I mentioned several new projects that were under consideratin at TNT, most of which were crime-related.Now THR has posted that TNT has ok’d a pilot for DELTA BLUES. George Clooney is exec producer of this series about a Memphis cop that moonlights as an Elvis impersonator…seriously. Oh year, he also lives with his mother. It is worth noting that the character is also described as being a good cop so we are not talking about a total goof.I said it last spring, I will say it again: That ensures I will at least watch the pilot. The writers are Joshua Harto and Liz Garcia. Harto is an actor that he had minor roles on...

SOUTHLAND may be TNT bound.

The Hollywood Reporter has posted that John Wells and TNT are in discussions to bring the newly offed SOUTHLAND to TNT.Last week, I mentioned that I thought TNT would be an excellent home for the series. SAVING GRACE is heading into it’s last season and TNT is agressively moving forward with scripted original programming. I would bet that the price tag for SOUTHLAND is less than that of SAVING GRACE, and SL has gotten good press from critics. The numbers that make it iffy on broadcast television would make it a winner on basic cable.TNT has been hanging it’s hat on crime shows, with LEVERAGE, SAVING GRACE, THE CLOSER and DEEP...

2009 Emmy Awards.

Last night, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences handed out of the Emmy Awards.Couple of comments:Glenn Close winning for DAMAGES. She has done a fantastic job, but I don’t know that she should have won for the second season, which was certainly a notch below the previous. But, it is always nice to see talented folk get rewarded. Personally, I would have given it to Holly Hunter for SAVING GRACE.Also, I was thrilled to see Kristin win for PUSHING DAISIES. Nice to see her (and the show) get some recognition for a nice performance in a unique show.Emmy nominations complete listOutstanding Drama SeriesBig Love • HBOBreaking Bad •...

SAVING GRACE coming to an end.

The sound you hear is heart breaking.THR is reporting that SAVING GRACE will have a final nine episode season next summer, then ride off into the sunset. The reason appears to be a financial one. The offer TNT made to Fox Studios, the company behind the show, was unacceptable because of SG’s high production costs. The ratings are actually at an all-time high, with season three drawing 3.5 million viewers per ep.I am a huge fan of the series. The writing is good and the cast has some amazing chemistry. To say this started my day off wrong is an understatement. SG stars Holly Hunter as Grace Hanadarko, an Oklahoma dectective whose...
