DC Universe “REBIRTH” Creator Signing

This morning, the Source Comics and Games had the unique opportunity to host a four-person signing of all Minnesota based comics creators. The signing was in relation to DC Comics best-selling Rebirth event. I was at the event nice and early, so I had the chance to beat the lines and chat a bit with all four creators while having my books signed. Minnesota native and veteran Superman writer/artist Dan Jurgens has long called the Twin Cities home. He is a regular guest at area conventions and events. He has worked on the Superman books off and on since 1989, including the Death of Superman storyline in 1992. Jurgens is now writing the iconic...

Batman V Superman With Spoilers

A SPOILER RIDDEN REVIEW of BATMAN VS SUPERMAN   This review has spoilers.     No kidding. We talk about the movie assuming you have seen it or aren’t going and won’t care. OK, I’m opening this by saying I really liked the movie. The trailers and rumors were all out of context and people have made a lot of false assumptions, almost all proving to be false. Here’s my take on it. Movie opens with ending from Man Of Steel as Superman and Zod are fighting and wrecking an awful lot of Metropolis in the process. Bruce Wayne sees this happening from Gotham and takes a helicopter to Metropolis. This is an older and grumpier Batman....

SUPERMAN/BATMAN Volume 3 Reviewed

SUPERMAN/BATMAN Volume 3 DC Comics Going back to the early days of my comics reading World’s Finest was always a favorite. I loved Batman and Superman teaming up and it was obviously popular because there is almost always a tile pairing these two at any given time. In 2003 DC started publishing SUPERMAN/BATMAN with some great stories. The collected versions collected story arcs but his led to a number of issues not being collected because this title did the wonderful old school thing of two issue story arcs. Recently DC is re-issues of collections that are collecting everything. In the latest, Volume 3 SUPERMAN/BATMAN 27-36 and Annual #1...

SUPERMAN #32 with Kate (and Dan)

::Kate sits in the backyard with a well-worn Uncle Sam top hat on her head, surrounded by long-dead sparklers and empty pie tins. Sadness, as they say, prevails.:: D: Like the bartender asked the horse, “Hey, Celine Dion, why the long face?” K: ::tears up:: I miss America. D: ::sticks finger in ear:: What? You’re Miss America? K: No, dummy. I MISS America. D: We’ve only left the country once and they let us back in. And that was just a lame daytrip to Thunder Bay. Look around, sweetie. Nothing says “America” like St. Paul, Minnesota. How can you miss something that you’re sitting in the middle of? K: First, it was the Fourth of July and all...

Superman: Dark Knight Over Metropolis

Much has been said about DC Comics “New52”. The line-wide reboot is now over two years old, and shows no sign of reverting to the company’s previous 75 years of continuity. Some folks love the modernization of these classic superheroes, while others have been left a bit cold. In a wise move by the company, DC is bundling up much of its backlist into trade collections. This decision has made many of its older fans (of course, meaning me) quite happy. Stopping into my local comics shop this past Wednesday, I was very happy to find SUPERMAN: DARK KNIGHT OVER METROPOLIS looking back at me from the shelf. Collecting the three-part storyline from...
