DVD Review: The Glades Season 3

THE GLADES Twentieth Century Fox June 4th 2013 The Glades is one of those TV crime dramas that is right in the middle of the road, not too soft, not too hard. I guess what this means is it’s safe for the whole family. In it’s third season we have firmly established characters. Matt Passmore as Jim Longworth is charming and fits the role of a quirky detective well. He has great timing with costar Carlos Gomez who plays the ME Carlos Sanchez and their scenes together seem like a well rehearsed comedy sketch, in a good way. Coming into season 3 we’ve seen Jim and love interest Callie (played by Keile Sanchez) go through a lot...

A&E orders fourth season of THE GLADES

No shock here: A&E announced today they are ordering a fourth season of the fairly successful drama THE GLADES. The third season of “The Glades” averaged 4.1 million total viewers, whereas season two averaged 3.9 million. Honestly, the show’s overall quality has also gone up. It may be better writing or it simply may be the continued development of the actors’ relationships with one another. Season four of “The Glades” will begin production soon and will premiere in 2013. A&E is currently in pre-production on the new scripted drama series “Bates Motel,” slated for a 2013 premiere and...

Promo for season three of THE GLADES.

Season three of THE GLADES begins, on A&E, on June 3rd at 9pm CST.

A&E continues to show love for THE GLADES.

In a move that should surprise nobody, A&E announced they have ordered a third season of THE GLADES. At first,  I was pretty critical of THE GLADES. It was cutesy and felt, to me, lazy. I never really felt they took advantage of the exotic locale and the scripts were  mediocre at best. Matt Passmore and Kiele Sanchez did a solid job with what little they had. But season two saw the writing improve and the key actors continued to delived the goods. The chemistry has really come along and has helped make THE GLADES an entertaining way to spend an evening. And the numbers continue to shine: Season two averaged 3.9 million viewers, almost a...

THE GLADES return tonight.

Tonight, A&E kicks off the second season of THE GLADES. While I found season one to be a mixed bag, the numbers were good and A&E is excited about season two.  The actors seem to find their footing as the season went on and the overall quality improved. According to the network, the stories will be more complex and edgier. In the season premiere, the daughter of a notorious Cuban mobster turns up dead in a Little Havana alley, and Longworth and the rest of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement must solve her murder to prevent an all-out war between two rival mob families. Meanwhile, Callie (Sanchez) prepares for her husband’s...
