July Trade Reviews

These are some reviews of recent trade releases , more to come soon.THE AUTHORITY: THE LOST YEARWildstormLately Authority and the other Wildstorm universe books have been in turmoil as the world they live on has gone to Hell and they are trying to fix it. This is a story that takes place before these events and it is classic Authority. Grant Morrison and Keith Giffin are having loads of fun as this group of heroes finds itself stuck on an Earth that drains the powers they need. They also find an Earth where the Authority goes too far and they end up fighting themselves. I enjoyed this cover to cover.BATGIRL RISINGDC ComicsStephanie Brown is...

SIMON DARK Apr13

SIMON DARK

DC Comics has opened the doors and let horror writing legend Steve Niles in to play in Gotham City in this new series, SIMON DARK. As of this writing there are two trades out collecting 1 through 6 in Simon Dark VOL 01: What Simon Does and Simon Dark: Volume 2 -AshesI was drawn to this for two reasons, I’m a fan of Steve Niles and I liked the thought of a Gotham book without Batman. The opening is Simon lives underground in a part of Gotham called The Village. he serves as it’s protector and he goes after bad guys and messes them up and stops them. However we soon learn that there is an awful lot more to Simon than meets the eye....

THE WAR THAT TIME FORGOT Mar09

THE WAR THAT TIME FORGOT

War that Time Forgot Vol. 1is this cool time paradox comic is out and it’s loads of fun. The premise is pretty cool, warriors and soldiers from all over time in the DC Universe are brought to an island as an experiment of some kind. The island also happens to be pretty dangerous with dinosaurs roaming around and different factions fighting it out. Classic DC characters from some of my favorite tales are here. The viking Prince, Enemy Ace, Tomahawk and plenty more. The soldiers are from all over time, right up to the Iraqi excursion we are now involved in. They are split in to two basic camps and most of the more modern fighting men...
