11.22.63 Miniseries

11.22.63 Warner Bros. Home Video Adapting Stephen King can be a tricky thing. For my money it is best done in a longer format on TV and preferably on cable. This mini-series ran on HULU and making me very happy was released on DVD. The book was great and loads of fun but I’m going to look at this as it’s own entity. The tale opens in a small town in Maine with High School English teacher Jake Epping (James Fanco) signing divorce papers and kind of wondering about his life. A friend of his Al (played by Chris Cooper) who runs a diner gives him a shock by developing cancer overnight. With a promise of having all revealed Jake meets him the...

Will Smith to head up DC’s SUICIDE SQUAD

Marvel has, for some time, been dominating DC  in Hollywood. But the latter is starting to gain traction, maybe not challenging Marvel for the number one spot, but certainly moving upwards. They have two successful CW shows with ARROW and THE FLASH, the upcoming SUPERMAN VS. BATMAN and have now announced the cast for SUICIDE SQUAD, which will feature Will Smith and Jared Leto. BURBANK, Calif. – An all-star roster of actors has joined Warner Bros. Pictures’ new action adventure “Suicide Squad,” bringing DC Comics’ super villain team to the big screen under the direction of David Ayer (“Fury”). The announcement was made today by Greg...

SUPERNATURAL Season 9

SUPERNATURAL Season 9 Warner Brothers     There is something about this show that makes me keep coming back for more. Not every episode is groundbreaking but they are all solid entertainment. It’s a great popcorn kind of show that doesn’t usually demand you to give it undivided attention and it’s not hard to follow. But it is fun, A LOT of fun. The brothers Winchester now have their own batcave, an underground Bunker they discovered that once belonged to “The Men Of Letters” who as it turns out had their grandfather in their ranks. This have given the show a little bit of grounding and we have less hotel scenes, though while fun...

GOTHAM: 1st pic of Harvey Bullock

Warner Brothers and Fox have released the first picture of Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue), partner of Jim Gordon. Starring Ben McKenzie in the lead role, GOTHAM is an origin story of the great DC Comics super villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”), “Gotham” follows one cop’s rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time. The series also stars Jada Pinkett Smith (Fish Mooney), Zabryna Guevara (Captain Essen),...

Dennis Lehane fans should mark Christmas Day of 2015 on their calendars. Warner Brothers has set that date for the release of LIVE BY NIGHT, Ben Affleck’s film that is based on the Lehane novel of the same name. Boston, 1926. The ’20s are roaring. Liquor is flowing, bullets are flying, and one man sets out to make his mark on the world.
