This Day In Crime: IRON LAKE

On this day, in 1999, William Kent Krueger released IRON LAKE, his debut novel. Lake introduced the world to Corcoran “Cork” O’Connor, a former sheriff that, at the time of the novel, is separated from his wife and children and in a bit of a mid-live crisis. Part Irish, part Anishinaabe Indian, Corcoran “Cork” O’Connor is the former sheriff of Aurora, Minnesota (population 3,752). Embittered over losing his job as a cop and over the marital meltdown that has separated him from his wife and children, Cork gets by on heavy doses of caffeine, nicotine, and guilt. Once a cop on Chicago’s South Side, there’s not much that can...

William Kent Krueger: Dates for the MANITOU CANYON...

William Kent Krueger, one of the nicest, and hardest working, authors in the Crime fiction genre is preparing to release MANITOU CANYON, the fifteenth book in the Cork O’Connor series. Since the violent deaths of his wife, father, and best friend all occurred in previous Novembers, Cork O’Connor has always considered it to be the cruelest of months. Yet, his daughter has chosen this dismal time of year in which to marry, and Cork is understandably uneasy. His concern comes to a head when a man camping in Minnesota’s Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness goes missing. As the official search ends with no recovery in sight, Cork is asked...

5 Things I loved in 2014

ORDINARY GRACE by William Kent Krueger Simply put, this is a novel that saw Kent take his game to the next level. Kent’s Cork O’Connor series is, in my opinion, one of the best ongoing series today. The characters age, love, suffer loss and grow. OG is the author’s second stand-alone (He, and his publisher, prefer not tot talk about the first) and finds Kent mining his childhood memories and craft the southern Minnesota setting. And in doing so, gives the readers the sights, sounds and even smells of small town middle America in the 50s. He does an amazing job and delivers a book that feels more like a recollection than a...

William Kent Krueger: Dates for WINDIGO ISLAND Tou...

William Kent Kruger, one of the hardest working men in crime fiction is gearing up for the release of WINDIGO BAY, the latest in the award-winning Cork O’Connor series. Cork O’Connor battles vicious villains, both mythical and modern, to rescue a young girl in this riveting mystery from New York Times bestselling, Edgar Award–winning author William Kent Krueger. When the body of a teenage Ojibwe girl washes up on the shore of an island in Lake Superior, the residents of the nearby Bad Bluff reservation whisper that it was the work of a deadly mythical beast, the Windigo, or a vengeful spirit called Michi Peshu. Such stories have been...
