Writer Types Podcast: Episode 8

Writer Types Podcast: Episode 8 By S.W. Lauden and Eric Beetner “More author interviews! Longer author interviews!” We asked our listeners to take a quick survey and this was the overwhelming feedback we received. And we heard you loud and clear. Thanks to everybody who participated, your valuable feedback will help us make our crime and mystery podcast even better. We’ll also be tweaking a few segments in the coming months, and trying a couple of new ones—starting with Episode 8, which dropped this week. Writer Types Podcast: Episode 7

The July episode of our crime and mystery podcast is something of a milestone. When we came up with the idea for Writer Types, we set out to do 12 monthly episodes and see how it went from there. With the release of the July episode today, we have official passed the halfway mark for that initial run. To help us celebrate this occasion, we have a favor to ask—Can you please take a few minutes to give us some feedback? If ‘HELL YES,’ click this SURVEY LINK and simply answer the 8 questions. We hope it won’t take more than 5 minutes. You’ll still have plenty of time to come back and enjoy the latest episode! Not really...

Writer Types: Episode 6

Summer is here, and with it comes the mad scramble to figure out what you’ll be reading by the pool, at the beach or on that long plane ride. Thankfully, there’s no shortage of good books coming your way in the next few months. That’s a big focus for Episode 6 of our crime and mystery podcast, Writer Types. We’ve got a fantastic interview with Meg Gardiner about her excellent new release, “UNSUB.” We catch up with genre-bending author John Rector about his latest, “THE RIDGE.” Jordan Harper tells us a little about his highly-anticipated debut novel, “SHE RIDES SHOTGUN.” And we share a brief Los Angeles tour diary from our lost weekend with...

Back then, booking enough guests to fill 2 episodes a month seemed like the biggest obstacle. We now realize that finding interesting guests is easy compared to the work that goes into scheduling and editing.   Then we got the bright idea to do a live event, sort of like a crime and mystery version of “Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me or “Jeopardy.” We dubbed it “Crime Quiz LIVE!” and set a date for early May at one of our favorite East Los Angeles haunts, Book Show LA. We...

WRITER TYPES PODCAST: EPISODE 4

WRITER TYPES PODCAST: EPISODE 4 By S.W. Lauden and Eric Beetner “Start a podcast,” they said. “It’ll be fun,” they said. So we did, and they were right.* It’s hard to believe that we’re already posting the fourth episode of our monthly crime and fiction podcast, Writer Types. What started as a fun way to pass the time in a San Diego-bound Prius, has grown into something we’re both pretty proud of. A lot of that has to do with the team we’ve assembled—including our reviewers Kate and Dan Malmon who are on loan from this very publication—and the many talented authors and publishing...
