What would you do if the agency you were adopted through sent you to meet your birth mother…but you knew it was the wrong woman? Jane Ryland’s former co-worker Tuck is distraught with the knowledge that somehow she was sent to meet a woman who isn’t her mother, and wants Jane to help her investigate the agency. It is, after all, what Jane does as an investigative reporter for a local Boston newspaper—uncovering truths and righting wrongs. At the same time, she is sent by her editor to a murder scene, where a young woman was bludgeoned to death in front of two small children. But where is the baby for the crib in the corner? Detective Jake Brogan and Jane both start digging into the murder, but the more they uncover, the more serious the threats against Jane become. Could the cases be connected? And how far is the person threatening Jane willing to go to keep her from uncovering the truth?
THE WRONG GIRL is the second book starring intrepid reporter Jane Ryland and Detective Jake Brogan. The chemistry between the two characters sizzles, and also adds to the emotional tension of the book. Jane Ryland is fearless and dogged in her pursuit of a story, often to the detriment of her own safety, while Jake Brogan is an excellent counterpart as the big-hearted cop in pursuit of justice for the victims. Hank Phillippi Ryan just keeps getting better, lending her experience as an investigative journalist to bring realism and intensity to this fast-paced thriller that has more twists than a soft-serve ice cream cone. THE WRONG GIRL is an intriguing and complicated story, and fans of Ryan will not be disappointed with this second entry in the series.
