What was thought to be a sure thing is now official: The tentatively titled KING AND MAXWELL has been greenlit for a ten episode season.
The series, which is based on the novels of David Baldacci, stars Jon Tenney (The Closer) and Rebecca Romijn (X-Men) as former Secret Service agents turned P.Is Sean King and Michelle Maxwell. ios. Shane Brennan (NCIS: LA), who penned the pilot, and Grant Anderson (Third Watch) serve as executive producers, with Karen Spiegel (Absolute Power) as producer. Baldacci is a consultant on the series.
With her striking beauty, athletic prowess and Beltway connections, Maxwell is a formidable investigator, determined to prove herself after being forced to resign from the Secret Service. King, a recovering alcoholic with a passion for romance novels, lost his job with the Secret Service when the presidential candidate he was assigned to protect was assassinated. Now, his background as a lawyer gives him a keen insight into the legal ins and outs necessary to do his job better than just about anyone.
Also appearing will be Michael O’Keefe (Michael Clayton) as Rigby and Chris Butler (The Good Wife) as Carter, two FBI agents who occasionally cross paths with King and Maxwell. In addition, Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy, TNT’s Wanted) stars as Edgar Roy, a savant who helps King and Maxwell solve cases. The pilot is based on THE SIXTH MAN, the most recent novel in the series.
The show is expected to debut in Summer of 2013.
