The cast continues to grow for THE DEEP BLUE GOODBYE.

The Hollywood Reporter has Peter Dinklage (GAME OF THRONES, THE STATION AGENT) and Nicola Pelz (TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION) in talks to join the adaption of John D. MacDonald’s novel. Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike are already on board with Bale playing Travis McGee and Pike in a role not named.

Peter Dinklage appears to be playing Meyer, Mcgee’s sidekick. The article does not mention the character by name, but describes him as ‘mathematician who made a fortune thanks to an app and ends up as McGee’s sidekick.” In the books, Meyer is a wealthy economist. Meyer did not appear in the original book, debuting a few books later. Not naming the character suggests that name might be changed, but I can’t think of a logical reason for doing so.

The description for Nicola’s character suggests she is playing Cathy Kerr, a dancer whose father brought home precious stones from his time in the military. A former associate of her father worms his way into her life, proving to be a dangerous, evil man that controls and tortures Cathy.

At this point, it appears the only major character still needed is Junior Allen, the central villain.

Being a movie, aspects of the characters are, like in the case of Meyer, subject to change. The original novel as Mcgee  former Korean vet, but the film will move his service to Afghanistan.

According to the article, filming is slated to begin in May, in Puerto Rico and Florida.
