This, my friends, is not a joke.
THR is reporting that there are plans to revive KOJAK with Vin Diesel playing the lollipop-lovin’ Greek-American police Lieutenant. This would be for the big screen, not television.
Universal Studios is behind this flawed idea and have hired Neal Purvis and Robert Wade to write the screenplay. The two have been writing the JAMES BOND scripts for over a decade, starting with THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH all the way up to SKYFALL.
For those that are not familiar with the character, from October 1973 to March of 78, Telly Savalas played NYC Detective Lieutenant Theo Kojak. Kojak became a pop cultural phenomena. In the mid 2000s, Ving Rhames played Kojak in a short-lived USA network revival.
