Since reporting Vince Flynn’s film/book deal with CBS/Simon & Schuster, I have been asked, almost daily, for news on the film front.

Who will be playing Mitch?
Who is directing?
When is it being made?

Well, I don’t really have answers to those questions, but I do have a bit of an update:

There is a screenplay by Jonathan Lemkin that seems promising. At this time, a draft to floating past all of the involved parties. If everyone is on the same page, things should start gaining momentum in the new year. The script is based on the 2005 novel CONSENT TO KILL.

For years, Mitch Rapp’s bold actions have saved the lives of countless Americans. In the tangled, duplicitous world of espionage, there are those, even among America’s allies, who want to see Mitch Rapp eliminated. They have decided the time has come.

Lemkin has previously adapted Stephen Hunter’s POINT OF IMPACT for the Mark Wahlberg film SHOOTER. He also wrote THE DEVIL’S ADVOCATE as well as having writtin one of the fifty or so drafts of LETHAL WEAPON IV. Since he did not get final screenplay credit, we can’t really blame him for that film’s stink. He started his career writing for telelvision, having done HILL STREET BLUES and 21 JUMP STREET.
