Warner Home Entertainment is doing something nice…and certainly unexpected.

As you may know, the battle for the High Def DVD was waged between HD-DVDs and Blu-ray DVDs.

Blu-ray won.

Now Warner has announced Red2Blu, a program that allows you to trade in your HD-DVDs for the same title in the Blu-ray format.

There is a small charge: $4.95, per title, plus shipping and handling. There is a limit of 25 titles per household.

Here is an addition aspect of the program:

By Participating in the Program, you are also eligible to receive a coupon
in the form of a promotional code for fifteen dollars ($15.00) off your purchase
of fifty dollars ($50.00) worth of Blu-ray titles at regular prices on the
WBShop.com site. Your $15.00 promotional code expires December 31, 2009.

For those that jumped on the HD-DVD bandwagon, this certainly will save you some money if you were planning on converting your collection to Blu-ray.

Tip o’ the Hat to Jon Jordan for pointing it out.
