Variety recently posted a story about Tom Selleck and his ongoing portrayal of Robert Parker’s Jesse Stone.

Five telefilms have aired thus far, with a sixth (NO REMORSE) in the can with no broadcast date announced. In addition to these, Selleck and co recently started production on the seventh, INNOCENTS LOST.

According to the article, Selleck would like to do as many as two telefilms per year. No contract is in place for any beyond INNOCENTS LOST.

According to Gerald, the telefilms have tended to be darker than the original novels and that THIN ICE (the first not to be based on a novel) continued the trend of presenting a more hard-boiled tale.

The Jesse Stone series has done fairly well for CBS, so I would think the only issue might be financial. Most networks are looking to cut expenses and I would imagine these are not cheap.
