Like many people, I enjoy true crime books. Each year hundreds are published, some good, some just sensationalist dreck. Among these books are a sub category that cover multiple stories. Most offer nothing new.

SHE KILLS ME is a wonderful collection of tales of women through history, infamous and some barely known. Wright does a nice job of keeping the pieces on each of these women detailed but not overly long.

Some names were familiar: Lizzy Borden, Delphine LaLaurie, Susan Atkins, Elizabeth Bathory. But not all female death bringers are well known. As well read as I am in true crime, I found it refreshing to read a book that brought something new to the table. The span of history is wide, from the 1500s to modern day and it is also split up into categories: Pretty Poisoners, Scorned Women, Killer Queens are some of the chapters. At the end of each section there is a nice essay that delves into each category; How To Spot A Psychopath, Female Cult Leaders , etc.

The research involved is evident as even killers I was familiar with had some new light cast on them. The ones I am unfamiliar with had a lot of compelling information.

This is a great book to read in one sitting, or a bit at a time. The layout is well thought out and even a few illustrations to break up sections.

If you are a fan of true crime or just interested in darker history this book is for you.
