The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Steve Zhan (Out of Sight, That Thing you do!) is in discussions to join the cast of David Simon’s upcoming HBO drama Treme.
According to the site, his character would be a “whip-smart street dancer, local radio DJ, band member and proud New Orleans native with anger issues.”
I have always like Zahn, many of his films suck, but I have enjoyed him. It would be nice to see him step into a role that would give him a chance to really show off his acting and musci skills. He sings and plays guitar. In That Thing You Do, he played and sang.
Steven will next be seen in A Perfect Getaway, in which he and Milo Jovovich clash with a couple of killers (Timothy Olyphant and Kiele Sanchez).
Kim Dickins is also coming on board. She played Joanie Stubbs on Deadwood. Her character will have an on and off relationship with Zahn and will be the cook/owner of a restaraunt.
They will join The Wire veterans Wendell Pierce (Bunk Moreland) and Clarke Peters (Lester Freeman) as well as Khandi Alexander (News Radio, CSI:Miami) .
Treme will look at the day to day struggles of life in Post-Katrina New Orleans and comes from David Simon, the man behind The Wire and Generation Kill.
I have a fan of his and am amped beyond words for this project!
