Edward Woodward starred as Robert McCall, a former government agent that helped those in need. He ran an ad in the classified ads reading “GOT A PROBLEM? ODDS AGAINST YOU? CALL THE EQUALIZER! ” Woodward won a Golden Globe in 1987. In the same year, the show picked up an Edgar for the episode The Cup. The Equalizer aired on CBS from 1985 to 1989.
Season one featured appearances by Jerry Stiller, David Alan Grier, Lori Petty (as “hooker”), Adam Ant, Luis Guzmán, Burt Young, Dana Barron, Bradley Whitford, (no receding hairline!) Charles S. Dutton, Meat Loaf, Jasmine Guy, Robert Davi, Melissa Joan Hart, Kim Delaney, Patricia Clarkson, Tony Shalhoub and Laurie Metcalf.
The set will feature five DVDS with all 22 episodes from season one, as well as some audio commentary by producer Michael Sloan.

I agree that it's about time. The Equalizer was a special show and it was very hip at the time, and having seen episodes on some old tapes I have it does hold up rather well. Plus the music by Stuart Copeland is amazing.
I will definitly need ot have this whole collection in my possesion at the soonest possible time.
I know some show duplicated the formula a bit including a short lived show with Michael Madsen.

I loved that show. My favorite part was always when McCall would get pissed off, that English reserve would crack, and he'd tell the bad guy something like "I'm going to take you apart, piece by nasty little PIECE!"
Excellent. One of my favorite shows. Hadn't realized it had been so long.
Just watched him in Five Weeks. Nice to see him but wish they'd made better/more use of him. He deserved a bigger/better part. Mayve he gets them in England and we just don't see them.
