Prelim filming has already started on Joe Carnahan’s film version of THE A-TEAM but, believe it or not, casting still is not complete.
Three of the four main roles are set:
Liam Neeson is Col. John ‘Hannibal’ Smith, Bradley Cooper (THE HANGOVER) is Lt. Templeton ‘Faceman’ Peck and former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Quinton Rampage Jackson is cpl. Bosco Arnold ‘Bad Attitude’ Baracus.
Those three are signed, sealed and delivered.

Word is that they have offered the role of Captain Mad Dog Murdock to Sharlto Copley. Copley recently was seen in DISTRICT NINE.

No word on who is playing the main baddie CIA agent Lynch (good name) but Moviehole is saying that David Richmond-Peck has snagged a role as “Gammons.” I know nothing about that character, but it sounds like he is another McNasty. Richmond-Peck is a Canadian actor that folks will be seeing in the upcoming ABC mini-series V.

I have not seen D9, but the other three could be good in the roles. I say COULD because as I have previously written, Rampage is not an actor and does not strike me as somebody that will be able to memorize lines quickly. He is very charismatic and could end up being fantastic. I hope he is, because his taking the role posponed a HUGE fight. The tenth season of the UFC’s reality show THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER was based around him facing his opposing coach (“Sugar” Rashad Evans) at the end of the season. That fight will now likely happen next Feb.

I really do think Carnahan could do a great job with The A-Team. I know a lot of folks disliked SMOKIN’ ACES, but I thought it was a very fun, chaotic blast of cinematic mayhem.
